Biography

Rigby is a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America (AAA), specializing in Post-War, Modern, Contemporary, and Emerging Art, certified by the AAA in Modern and Contemporary Glass.

Raised in Hawaii and Florida, Rigby earned a degree in Art History from the University of Florida. She has completed additional studies in art finance at the Sotheby’s Institute in London. Recently she has served on the University of Florida College of Arts Alumni Council and the Seattle Art Museum Supporters executive committee. Rigby is a former board member of the MOCA Contemporaries in Los Angeles and The Service Board in Seattle. While in Los Angeles, she co-owned a private gallery with Anne Cohen, a Los Angeles-based art collector, and consultant.

Rigby’s background informs her deep respect for artists, objects, and the creative process. Her mother is a writer and painter, while her father is a retired Marine Corps JAG officer and corporate attorney. Both inspired her professional life. As a child, she loved her paternal grandparents’ farmland, upon which her grandfather celebrated historical objects by creating a family antique barn with a collection from the early 1900s. Her maternal grandfather’s dream was to be a professional woodcarver. These inherited interests in artistic practice and historical objects inspired Rigby’s love of fine art and stewardship of collections.
